Resources for Libraries and Lifelong Learning and the Wisconsin Library Association (WLA) Resource Sharing Roundtable are convening a statewide working group to revise statewide interlibrary loan guidelines.  Feedback on the current guidelines was solicited through conference presentations and surveys distributed throughout the state in 2011.The guidelines, which were last revised in 2005, will be reviewed by the working group.  Suggested updates will be shared and input will be gathered from the statewide library community.   The group will read and review the current Wisconsin and American Library Association guidelines and the Interlibrary Loan Code for the United States Explanatory Supplement.  Additions, deletions, and changes to the existing guidelines will be recommended and discussed.  New language will be drafted to bring the Wisconsin guidelines up to date. The WLA Resource Sharing Roundtable (RSRT) is pleased to offer a scholarship to help defray the cost of attending the 2009 WLA Annual Conference. The scholarship is available to RSRT members, but you may join WLA and RSRT and apply for the scholarship, or if a member of WLA but not RSRT, you may join RSRT by contacting the WLA office. The South Central Library System Delivery System (affectionately known as the “Red Box folks”) recently updated their web page. The delivery system in Wisconsin is the envy of most other states in terms of providing rapid, efficient, and cost effective delivery between libraries. Delivery goes between UW system libraries, public libraries, private colleges, technical colleges, and Wisconsin governmental agencies. There is even a daily handoff to Minitex (Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota) libraries. Over one and a half million items were moved by the SCLS Delivery system last year. There is a wealth of information on the web site – including statistics, delivery schedule including timetables, and guidelines for shipping. I encourage you to spend a few minutes browsing their web site....
