The South Central Library System Delivery System (affectionately known as the “Red Box folks”) recently updated their web page. The delivery system in Wisconsin is the envy of most other states in terms of providing rapid, efficient, and cost effective delivery between libraries. Delivery goes between UW system libraries, public libraries, private colleges, technical colleges, and Wisconsin governmental agencies. There is even a daily handoff to Minitex (Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota) libraries. Over one and a half million items were moved by the SCLS Delivery system last year. There is a wealth of information on the web site – including statistics, delivery schedule including timetables, and guidelines for shipping. I encourage you to spend a few minutes browsing their web site....
