Lynsey Addario Wins Prestigious Literary Prize for It’s What I Do: A Photographer’s Life of Love and War  Madison, Wisconsin – June 28, 2016 – The Literary Awards Committee of the Wisconsin Library Association (WLA) is pleased to announce the 2016 Literary Award winner: Lynsey Addario for: It’s What I Do: A Photographer’s Life of Love and War. This is the highest literary achievement by a Wisconsin author for a work written in 2015.  “We couldn’t be more proud of Lynsey Addario’s achievement,” said Plumer Lovelace, Executive Director for WLA. “There were many excellent books from Wisconsin writers this year, but her efforts were impressive.” Lynsey Addario, a 1995 graduate of UW-Madison, has written a book that is gripping, enlightening and (surprisingly, considering her unique experiences) relatable. Think Sunday, August 21...the warm August air envelopes you as you relax outside while the afternoon turns to dusk. You take in the sunset colors of the sky and the beauty of the water; your toes curl in the sand on the beach. Someone walks by your chair and rests a lei of flowers across your shoulders. You sigh in relaxation and take a sip from the Mai Tai in your hand. Off to your right, the torches are being lit in preparation for the night's prformance of live Polynesian music, Hula Dancers, and Fire and Knife Breathers. Even though it might seem as if you're off on the beautiful island beaches of Kauai, tonight you are actually at the WLA Foundation Summer Fundraiser and the members of the Luau Fundraiser Committee are pleased to invite you to what is sure to be one of the best events of the year!...
