Madison, Wisconsin – February 4, 2015 – In response to Governor Walker’s proposed state budget, Wisconsin Library Association President John Pollitz issued the following statement:
“The Wisconsin Library Association expresses gratitude to Governor Scott Walker for maintaining state funding for Wisconsin’s public library systems, BadgerLink, and Newsline for the Blind, as well as for library service contracts that provide specialized resources to residents across the state from the Wisconsin Talking Book and Braille Library, the Cooperative Children’s Book Center, Milwaukee Public Library and UW-Madison libraries.”
Public library systems coordinate high-speed telecommunications networks, management of automated shared catalogs and inter-library loan delivery for their member libraries, providing effective, efficient and accountable resources which individual libraries cannot afford on their own. System services keep local library doors open.
