The Wisconsin Association of Academic Librarians (WAAL) 2014 Professional Development Committee is accepting applications for scholarships to the WAAL 2014 Annual Conference. The conference will take place at the Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, April 30-May 2.  Scholarships are awarded in the following categories:

  • Library paraprofessionals: attending the WAAL conference is an easy way to expand your professional network and learn new ideas to bring back to your home institution.  Scholarships are available to current WLA members or individuals who will join WLA before the start of the WAAL 2014 conference.
  • Library school graduate students: attending the WAAL conference can expose you to unfamiliar areas of librarianship and help you start building that all-important professional network.  It also looks great on a resume! Scholarships available to current WLA members or individuals who will join WLA before the start of the WAAL 2014 conference.
  • Undergraduate students: if you are an undergrad considering a career in library science, attending the WAAL conference will provide you with a deeper understanding of the profession and connect you with the two MLIS granting programs in Wisconsin.  Undergraduates do NOT need to be a current WLA member to be awarded the scholarship.

Scholarships cover the registration fee for the conference and up to $250 of documented expenses.

See the WLA website for application materials and more details: http://wla.wisconsinlibraries.org/waal/waal-committees/guidelines-applications-for-waal-scholarships
