bryceThe New Members Roundtable (NMRT) is pleased to announce Sara Bryce, La Crosse Public Library, as the first recipient of the new Rising Star Award.

The Rising Star Award was started this year as a way to highlight and recognize a project or accomplishment of a new colleague in our field; ideally the recipient would have worked in a Wisconsin library for five years or fewer. Sara works in the Youth Services Department at La Crosse Public, and in the past year, she led a community grant project to introduce the library to all 2nd graders in the city. She also introduced much needed classroom management techniques to staff and patrons for their "boat" in the Youth Area. You can find out more about Sara and her Youth Services work at her blog: (And the story of how she named her blog gives you a glimpse of her stellar class management skills.)

We will be honoring Sara at the WLA Awards Banquet on Thursday Oct 25th with a certificate of recognition and a free one year WLA membership. Congratulations Sara on being our first "Rising Star"!
