Register now for Government Information Day at the UW-Madison Memorial Library, September 20, or download the PDF document and send it to the WLA office.  The price is still $10.00.  The schedule of events provides you with the opportunity to participate in five 10-minute lightning talks, hear about the latest depository updates as well as the recent FDLP survey, learn how to find information in military libraries, enjoy any of the great eateries around Memorial Library, congratulate the Wisconsin Distinguished Government Document winner and talk about integrating government information into the K-12 curriculum.      Please remember to bring your ID for entrance into the library.   We look forward to seeing you on September 20th....

They even speak the same language as you do! Yet, often, conflict arises between tech and other library staff. Everyone gets frustrated, and issues don't get solved as quickly as everyone would like.   Discover what you can do to make communication easier and make problem resolutions happen faster. Hear stories and some words of wisdom from actual IT staff on the front lines of library technology. The Wisconsin Library Heritage Center Steering Committee is accepting nominations for individuals to be inducted into the Wisconsin Library Hall of Fame in 2013.  Nominations must be submitted by August 30, 2013. Procedures and a nomination form are located at http://www.libraryhistorybuff.com/wlhc-hall-of-fame.htm. Both the Wisconsin Library Heritage Center and the Wisconsin Library Hall of Fame are programs of the Wisconsin Library Association Foundation. Induction into the Wisconsin Library Hall of Fame is granted to individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to the statewide improvement of library service in Wisconsin over a sustained period of time.  Individuals who have worked in and/or advocated for Wisconsin libraries will be considered.  Both living and deceased individuals will be considered. Final selection of inductees into the Wisconsin Library Hall of Fame will be made by the Wisconsin Library Heritage Center Steering Committee. Nominations should be submitted to Larry T. 2013 Wisconsin Library Association Literary Award Librarians Honor Eliot Treichel for ‘Close is Fine : Stories’ The Wisconsin Library Association has chosen Close is Fine: Stories by Eliot Treichel, who grew up in the Fox River Valley and now lives in Eugene, OR, as the winner of the 2013 Wisconsin Library Association Literary Award, given for the highest literary achievement by a Wisconsin author for a book published in 2012.
