The Wisconsin Library Association Announces the 2019 Literary Award and Children’s Book Award Winners Chloe Benjamin Wins Literary Prize from the Wisconsin Library Association For Her Novel: The Immortalists The Literary Awards Committee of the Wisconsin Library Association is pleased to announce that Chloe Benjamin’s novel The Immortalists is the Literary Award winner for 2019. The award is for the highest literary achievement by a Wisconsin author for a work written in 2018. The Immortalists follows the lives of four siblings living in New York’s Lower East Side in 1969. Drawn to a mystic woman who claims to divine the date of one’s death, the Gold children learn their futures. The prophecies hang over the Gold family for the next forty years as they grapple with choices over fate, science versus nurture and what they owe to themselves and each other. The Wisconsin Library Heritage Center Steering Committee is accepting nominations for individuals to be inducted into the Wisconsin Library Hall of Fame for 2019. Nominations must be submitted by Friday, August 30, 2019. Procedures and nomination form can be found HERE. The Wisconsin Library Hall of Fame is a project of the Wisconsin Library Heritage Center which is a program of the Wisconsin Library Association Foundation. Induction into the Wisconsin Library Hall of Fame is granted to individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to the statewide improvement of library service in Wisconsin.  Inductees into the Hall of Fame are selected by the Steering Committee of the Wisconsin Library Heritage Center.  The Wisconsin Library Hall of Fame includes both librarians and library supporters.  Nominations of individuals to be included in the Hall of Fame come from the Steering Committee and the library community at large. Madison, Wisconsin – Oct. 2, 2018 – The steering committee of the Wisconsin Library Heritage Center, a program of the Wisconsin Library Association Foundation, has selected three individuals to be inducted into the Wisconsin Library Hall of Fame (WLHF) in 2018.  The inductees include:  Lucy Smith Morris (1850-1935). A native of Berlin, Wisconsin, and a contemporary and colleague of Lutie Stearns, a 2008 charter member of the Hall of Fame, Lucy Morris advocated for the development of public libraries in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In her leadership role in the Wisconsin Federation of Women's Clubs, she oversaw the establishment of more than 100 public libraries during the group's first year of operation.
