Welcome to Lake Geneva!

This year’s conference planning committee has taken a hint from our beautiful surroundings and designed a program to help us all recommit to providing the best we have to offer our libraries, our communities and ourselves.  So as you look at the conference programs, I challenge you to attend and participate in those that will help you fulfill your own “Quest for Excellence.”   Where do you want to go as a professional, as a department or as a library?  Your mission is to find your quest and then go for it!

We have programs on a variety of topics designed to help you navigate your mission.  Discover new methods for instruction and marketing.  Find new ideas for your website and how to facilitate use of technology.  Learn ways to make your organization more effective and efficient.  In between, take time to relax and recharge yourself at the spa, make new friends and take advantage of opportunities to reconnect with your colleagues from across the state.  This year, you will again have the opportunity to vote for the program you feel is the “Best of WAAL” to be invited to do an encore performance at WLA 2012 in LaCrosse.

I’d also like to personally invite you all to attend the WAAL Business Meeting to learn about what is going on in the organization and to give the WAAL Board your opinions.  This year the Business Meeting has been moved to Wednesday afternoon at 4:30pm.

Thank you to the Conference Planning Committee and all of the presenters, room monitors, registration desk volunteers and the staff at the WLA offices.  Without all of these wonderful volunteers and without you attending, WAAL and the Wisconsin Library community would not be the wonderful resource it is.

Enjoy your quest and find some time to rest and reflect as well.

Ane Carriveau, Chair Wisconsin Association of Academic Libraries (WAAL)
