Here's your opportunity to be of service to your professional community. Volunteering at the conference is a fantastic way to network and meet new people, catch up with old friends as you see them, and get in touch with the workings of the conference. Many volunteers are needed in several areas. An hour or two of your time can make a significant difference!

We are in need of registration booth volunteers, session room monitors, author signing tables and resume reviewers. Available shifts can be found on the following Google spreadsheet. Just look for the tabs at the bottom of the page to sign up in each area.

Here's what you need to know:

Registration Booth Volunteers
Volunteers can help out at the registration booth before, during or between sessions. This is a good area for networking and meeting attendees. Volunteers will never be alone; someone from the registration committee or WLA office will always be present.

Volunteers will assist the registration committee and office staff with:
♦ Checking in attendees
♦ Handing out attendee materials and name badges
♦ Registering attendees onsite
♦ Helping to collect evaluations
♦ Welcoming speakers when they check in, handing them their name badges, and directing them to their session locations

Room Monitors
If you're planning to attend a particular session anyway, this is a great way to volunteer to help keep the session on track and moving-not to mention a way to help out the conference planners.

Room monitors will:
♦ Arrive early to the selected/assigned session
♦ Get help, especially technical, when necessary (you don't have to know how to do it yourself; you just might have to find someone who can)
♦ Distribute speaker handouts if necessary
♦ Introduce the speaker
♦ Keep time and alert speakers (if speakers request)
♦ Complete attendance on room monitor form, which will be provided

Book Signing Table
Volunteers can help out after the YSS luncheon speaker and after the local author session. Assist with the flow of traffic, handling of books, etc.

Resume Reviewers
Whether you are an academic, public, school, special or other awesome librarian, you can volunteer to review the resumes of library school students, para-professionals, or anyone else who is interested in a career in the library field.
