It’s Etsy meets eBay meets WLA!

The Silent Auction is a great way to support the WLA Foundation, and continues to be a popular feature of the conference. Be sure to stop by and browse for gifts, while admiring the creative talents of your peers.

We are adding a ‘buy-now’ option for those who will not be there on Thursday (or who just prefer immediate gratification)

Proceeds benefit the WLA Foundation - providing financial support for:

  • WLA Awards and Honors
  • Scholarships for library and continuing education
  • Campaign for Wisconsin Libraries
  • WLA Literary Awards
  • Elizabeth Burr/Worzalla Award
  • Special projects, including studies about libraries and library users
  • Wisconsin Library Heritage Center
  • WLA Foundation Endowment
  • WLA’s area of greatest need

Information for shoppers:

The Silent Auction & Crafty Gift Fair will be held in the Kalahari Exhibit Hall
♦Wednesday, November 5: 10:00 am - 4:30 pm
♦Thursday, November 6: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm.
♦The auction closes at Thursday at 3:30 pm. Pick up and pay goes from 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Ways to pay: Cash, check or credit card

Information for donors: the following guidelines apply for contributed items:

  • Items are tax-deductible as charitable contributions at their actual value
  • WLA Foundation owns the items once contributed
  • Items valued at $50 or higher in value are encouraged

Example of past donations:

  • Fine arts, including jewelry, paintings, sculpture, pottery
  • Yarn and fabric creations, including scarves and shawls
  • Products or services that a library or librarians would find useful (story hour, consulting)
  • Entertainment packages (theater or sporting event tickets, golf packages)
  • Hotel packages (e.g., weekend getaways with one or more meals included)
  • Theme baskets (a great and economical gift donation for library staff to create collectively!)
  • Trips inside or outside Wisconsin
  • Collectibles, antiques and memorabilia
  • Gourmet treats, like beer

Donors will be acknowledged on the

  • Bid sheet and on the receipt provided to the winning bidder
  • Conference Website auction information
  • WLA Website
  • WLA and WLA Conference social media
  • Poster at the Silent Auction

Note - you can choose to remain anonymous if you prefer.

How to Contribute:

            Even though our gratitude for your donations is HUGE, space for
            storing them at the WLA office is at a bare minimum! If you cannot
            attend the conference, or absolutely cannot bring your item with 
            you, please send the item to the office with your form.
