Chip Kidd is a Designer/Writer in New York City (and Stonington, CT, and Palm Beach, FL). His book cover designs for Alfred A. Knopf, where he has worked non-stop since 1986, have helped create a revolution in the art of American book packaging. He is the recipient of the National Design Award for Communications, as well at the Use of Photography in Design award from the International Center of Photography. And a bunch of other stuff. His 2012 TED talk has garnered over 700,000 hits as of this writing, and is cited as one of the 'funniest of the year.' Lots more to tell, the above barely scratches the surface. Check out his TED Talk at http://on.ted.com/Kidd.
Chip Kidd's presentation is generously sponsored by Gale. Stop by their booth in the exhibits and say thanks!

Sergio Dogliani moved from Italy to Great Britain in 1984. His background is in adult education, having taught in various London institutions and managed Languages, ICT and Humanities departments.
His experience in learning provision and his lifelong love of books and libraries led to his appointment as Manager of the first Idea Store in 2002, and then to his current position in the Senior Management Team as Deputy Head of Idea Store.
The Idea Store project, created in Tower Hamlets, is an innovative concept that combines library, learning and information services through a network of new buildings that also include cafés, art galleries and community facilities. Sergio’s work regularly involves council directors, international architects and designers, policy makers, local and national politicians, and union leaders.
Sergio has written several articles on Idea Stores that have been published in prestigious magazines, newspapers and books in France, Italy Spain, Germany and the UK. He has also appeared as the spokesperson for Idea Stores on TV and radio programmes (BBC and Italy). Sergio is much in demand on the international cultural circuit, having extensively travelled to Europe and the US. He is also one of the organisers of Collisioni, a major literary and musical festival in Italy, which this year’s 5th edition attracted several international guests and an audience of 80,000.
Sergio lives in Hackney, East London, with his wife Emma and three children Zaki (20), Isabella (15) and Rocco (11) - all Idea Store members.
Dogliani will share an honest and thought-provoking talk on the innovative Idea Store project - looking back at the lessons learned from the first 10 years, and ahead to the next 10.
