Please take a minute to review the conference partnership and advertisers list, and then take another minute to thank them when you stop by their booths or do business with them after the conference.

The Maker Experience

What IS the maker movement and what does it offer libraries?

The maker movement combines hands-on learning, creativity, collaboration, literacy development, and STEM/STEAM education in library spaces, programming, and collections. We’ve pulled together a bunch of programs and activities that touch on each of those points to create the Maker Experience.

What is the Maker Experience??

The Maker Experience is chock-full of conference programs and hands-on activities that let you experience the maker movement and how it applies to your library on the ground at WLA.

We've identified specific sessions that speak to the maker movement.

We've also created some fun activities for you to experience, including:

  • Hands-on maker activities on the demo stage! (Make a BrushBot! Make a recycled book craft! and more!)
  • A collective mural that attendees will help to create (no drawing skills required!)
  • An opportunity to download an ebook from a DIY ebook server
  • 3D printing demonstrations
  • Craftdecks! A chance to put your impromptu making skills to the test in head-to-head (or glue gun-to-glue gun) competition.

You'll find all of the details in a special handout included in your conference packet.
