What is ethical behavior? Join us as we explore the issues and challenges to acting ethically. We will work to define ethical behavior and explore dilemmas and temptations that hinder us in our goal of acting ethically. Participants will receive the workbook Ethical Fitness: Preparing for the Challenges of the 21st Century and a pre-reading from Rushmore Kidders How Good People Make Good Choices. ♦ Make a Splash Read! Summer Library Program

The Summer Library Program (SLP) Preconference will be showcasing 17 presenters who will give librarians program ideas for the 2010 SLP childrens theme, Make a SplashRead, and the teen theme, Make Waves. The opening session will be a discussion on the use of prizes during the summer, the pros and cons of using prizes, but also some fresh ideas on what a low cost, safe prize can be other than a trinket. The program for the day includes a free tour of the Childrens Museum in Appleton, A Building for Kids, including the hands-on Water Room activities. Patti Sinclair, who edits the CSLP manual, will share highlights from the manuals. Representatives from the Wisconsin Historical Society, the Wisconsin Water Library at UW-Madison, the Wisconsin Maritime Museum in Two Rivers and the Heckrodt Wetland Reserve in Menasha will be presenting. In addition, librarians will share their best craft, programming and decorating ideas.
